✯Nostalgia✯

✯ "Nostalgia" is a piece about Christmas nostalgia. The concept behind this piece is that feeling you get when you think of your childhood. I decided to go with a Christmas because when I think back to the greatest times I had as a child (and still do) was during Christmas. Another inspiration for this piece was "Goodnight Moon", a children's book I was quite fond of as a child. The inspiration is shown in the background; The story is set in a room with a wooden fireplace/ mantel and a golden frame with a green painting inside. This correlation to "Goodnight Moon" was a subconscious decision but I now know why I did this: It gives me a sense of nostalgia. Also, the background is very similar, if not exactly, like my living room at home which I always subconsciously think of when picturing a living room. I am communicating it through what people feel when they see this. When I look at this piece I think of warmth and home, two things that bring back that sense of nostalgia.

✯ I chose a color palette of greens, golds/ yellows, navy blue, and hints of reds and red-ish browns. I chose these colors because 1. They go along with the Christmas color themes 2. they are the colors of "Goodnight Moon" and my living room and 3. The emotions they invoke. The emotions are: Dark greens- calm and serenity, Golds and Yellows- happiness and remembrance, Navy blue- elegance and importance, and Reds- love and emotions.

✯ "Nostalgia" is a piece that should invoke nostalgia and feelings of comfort, and these feelings should be felt by people who might not even celebrate Christmas.
